5 Scary Good Reasons to Check Out Universal Studios Singapore Halloween Horror Nights #HHN8

First, a disclaimer: we at #TeamHomebased consider ourselves serious horror aficionados. We’ve watched everything – from Rosemary’s Baby to Gonjiam, from Martin Freeman’s Ghost Stories to Stephen King’s The Langoliers. And yes, we’ve also watched Filipino horror flicks – from The Road to Zombadings.
That said, we’re asking for your forgiveness in advance if we occasionally get carried away in our enthusiasm.

If you're serious about wanting this year’s Halloween to be something so much more than dressing up for costume parties, then pick a night to fly out and get ready for a night of jump-out-of-your-bones thrills and scares with Universal Studios Singapore's Halloween Horror Nights HHN8: Infinite Fear.

Reason #1: Yes, your eyes aren't trying to trick you. HHN8 has a Stranger Things Haunted House, and they want you to come check it out.

Just imagine. You, standing in the Byers' living room, gazing straight at Joyce's DIY Christmas light version of a Ouija board...can you spell surreal?

All in all, the Stranger Things Haunted House will have TWELVE ROOMS to represent TWELVE SCENES from Season 1, and since it's a Netflix x Universal Studios collaboration, consider it your official portal to Hawkins, Indiana.

Now, if being part of Eleven's squad isn't enough to make your Halloween getaway TDF, then how would you feel about ---

Reason #2: Scare zones where you can take a selfie...or diefie?

Scare zones are basically queue-free areas that HHN visitors can enter anytime. You're even allowed to somewhat interact with any of the areas' free-roaming supernatural, undead, or people who are just plain evil. It really depends on which zone you've stumbled into.

Oh, and yes, you can take as many photos and stay for as long as you want in these zones - if you dare.

First up is Apocalypse: Earth, in which nature unleashes its most destructive powers on a hapless New York. In other words, think end of the world - but 100% safe and Instagrammable.

Cannibal, on the other hand, is exactly what it hideously suggests. There's a tribe of man-hunters on one side. And then there's, well, you.

Reason #3: Fright Night Live...so to speak.

HHNs always start with a bang, and by that I'm referring to their awesome Scaremonies. It's basically dance concert meets scare fest, and even better, this year's Scaremony will play out several times throughout the night.

HHN8's Scaremony theme is Infinite Fear, which should be an apt description of what you'd feel once Eight Lakes Psychiatric Hospital lets loose its ghostly horde of unwilling patients.

Other live shows slated for HHN8 include Dead Talk (motivational "death coach" Gideon Grim takes center stage in a seminar-slash-acrobatic theater) and Blood & Bones (ritualistic show that can't be anything but viscerally delightful, considering it's taking place in the Cannibal scare zone).

And as for more spine-chilling reasons to visit HHN8...

Reason #4: Want to play hide and seek, shoot or die with ZOMBIES?

This attraction is the sole exception in the list that's NOT covered by your HHN admission pass.
That said...does it really matter? I mean, come on. Zombies! Laser tag! Think The Walking Dead, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil...IRL.

Haunted House #3: Killuminati is what I'd like to think as Hong Kong reimagined as Salem's Lot or Twilight's Volturi, with its back alleys transformed into a hunting ground for a secret society of vampires.
