Hello 2019!
I'm almost 2 months late with that greeting, but as one of my favorite sayings goes - better late than never!
Anyway, I thought it was especially important for me to check back in (pun intended) on the blog because of my most recent (100% positive) experience with Agoda. And just to make a long story essentially short, let me share with you what happened in bulleted format.
1. I reserved a room via Agoda.com using their BOOK NOW PAY LATER option.
2. The credit card I used was compromised (hacked in other words).
3. I logged in to Agoda using their mobile app and website, but there was no option for changing credit cards for BOOK NOW PAY LATER bookings.
4. I called Agoda's customer service.
5. According to their customer service rep, I can still push through with the booking, BUT I will need to pay for the booking NOW. That was totally fine with me because
- While I still had time to cancel the booking without getting charged anything, I still had to make a NEW booking, and the current rate for the exact same room was now twice as expensive.
- I called them Feb 20ish, and my booking was for March 7-11. Too close for comfort (timewise), which meant the available rooms left were either too far from the city or too expensive.
6. I paid for the room, and the difference between the old and new rate (due to Yen = PhP exchange fluctuations) was around P1,000+ ONLY! Not bad at all!
7. Booking on my account was immediately updated to PAID, and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
