It's that time of the year again when the job market gets just a wee bit more competitive than usual, with this year's influx of new graduates joining the fray. If you're on the hunt yourself, and you're thinking there aren't enough employment opportunities to go around, maybe you're looking at the wrong places?
Work Online with FreeeUp
Before anything else, here's the usual disclaimer:
1. This is not a paid post in any way.
2. We at Team Homebased only vouch for companies or websites referred by people we personally know and trust.
Now that's out of the way, let's get back to our original topic.
FreeeUp describes itself as a freelance marketplace, and while it's only been in operation for a few years (est. 2015), it's now able to boast of a huge stable of freelancers spread across eighty-five different skillsets and with pay rates ranging anywhere from $5 to $75 per hour.
When you work with FreeeUp, you can...
- Set your own rates.
- Get paid weekly.
- Grow your freelance business.
- Have the opportunity to add new clients every day.
- Enjoy access to the website's dedicated support team.
- They actually have an entire page dedicated to their application process, but just to make things quick and easy, let me sum it up for you here.
- Fill out their application form, which you'll find here.
- You'll need to schedule a time and date for your interview, which lasts about 30-45 minutes. You'll be notified within 24 hours if you've successfully gotten past this hurdle, and if you have...
- You'll need to pass their test, and from what I can gather, it's not your usual kind of aptitude or skill-based test. Rather, it's all about FreeeUp's best practices and terms of use. And to borrow the site's own words..."If you pass, you move on. If you fail, it could hurt your chances of being accepted into the network." Assuming it's the former that happens, then...
- Congratulations! You've just become the newest member to join FreeeUp's community.
- You'll need to set up an account and familiarize yourself with how this new virtual marketplace works. But don't worry, you won't be doing this on your own. A FreeUp assistant will be reaching out to show you the ropes, and I have to say, this is a lot more support than what some of us have come to expect from other online job marketplaces.
- While FreeeUp doesn't charge freelancers any kind of service fee, they do have to earn as well, hence the difference between the freelancer's rate (what you charge) and the client's rate (what FreeeUp charges the client). This can either be a mark up of $2 minimum or a 15% increase. It varies.
- Speaking of payments, FreeeUp presently offers freelancers a choice between PayPal and Payoneer, with payments made every day. Keep in mind that you're solely responsible for logging your hours in.
As someone who's had the misfortune of knowing and working for rather unscrupulous individuals in the past, I find weekly payouts a lot less risky and thus more preferable to monthly payouts. And with FreeeUp to back you up, there's even a lesser chance for you to get scammed.
FreeeUp has a FAQ page if there are other things you need clarified, and you can also email them at Support@FreeeUp.com for any additional questions you may have.
Working online might never have been part of your job-hunting strategy, but if the physical marketplace is looking a little scarce, then why not give FreeeUp a try? There's nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Happy job hunting!
