Start Working Home Today: FIVE Home-Based Jobs That Don’t Require A College Degree

If you’re considering working from home, there’s no better time to do so than today, and I do mean that literally. In most cases, you can apply online no matter if it’s three in the morning or two in the afternoon.

As for the job opportunities awaiting you, I hope you’ll be delighted to know that many don’t require applicants to have a college degree. More often than not, online employers simply care about the quality of your work (which you get to prove by submitting them your samples or portfolio) and how you “perform” during the job interview.

And now, without further ado, here’s a list of work-from-home postings that you can start applying for today.

Online English teacher

It may take some time to search for the right postings, but there are online English teaching jobs
that don’t require applicants to be native English speakers. Certainly, such jobs won’t require you
to be a college graduate either. What they do care, however, is how good your diction is and if
you’re able to speak English with either an American or neutral accent.

Transcriptionist

Legal and business transcription jobs also don’t require applicants to be college graduates, but they do require you to have exceptional listening and typing skills. Also, be aware that medical transcription jobs are a whole different ballgame. The latter, albeit higher paying, requires specialized training and may also come with hardware and software requirements.

Virtual assistant

‘Virtual assistants’ are a bit of an umbrella term in the sense that job descriptions can greatly vary from one posting to another. Perhaps the simplest way to explain this type of job is to think of the many things a personal assistant (PA) or secretary can do – only this time, you’ll be doing it from the comfort of your home.

Things that your boss can expect you to do as a VA include but are not limited to the following:
  • Make online calls to clients abroad (you won’t get charged long-distance fees)
  • Book reservations on behalf of your employer
  • Manage social media accounts
It can be any number of things really, but the good news is that most job postings for Vas offer free training as well.

Blogger

If there is a particular topic you’re knowledgeable or passionate about, then consider putting up a blog about this. It may take some time, but once you have enough people following your blog, you can apply to Google’s Adsense program or something similar to earn advertising revenue.

Graphic artist

If you’re good at drawing or illustration, then the first thing to do is to create an online portfolio of your work. Make sure that your portfolio effectively showcases the depth and breadth of your work so that prospective employers will know right away what you can offer them. Some graphic artists are paid on a per-project basis (check Fiverr.com for an example of graphic designers offering their services online) while others are hired to work from home part-time or full-time by companies here or abroad.

Regardless of which stay-at-home job you end up applying for, just keep this old adage in mind: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
